Yes DL in a 3-4 occupy gaps and take up blocks, but you can sell to recruits by saying if you're a DL in a 3-4 AND making plays on the ball with all that attention on you, you'll get noticed even more. I don't think scheme has that much to do with it, it's just the overall talent level BYU has been able to recruit. If we recruited DL in a 3-4 that could get pressure and clog all the gaps, our D would be top 25 consistently with the same talent level at LB and DB.
