His boys were great players.. seriously whats wrong with some of you?
Randy Reid was recruited by some big schools, he chose BYU.
Robbie Reid was recruited by even more schools, he chose BYU.

Rodger admitted himself he screwed up big time with his son Randy. He always told him to pass the ball and the guy
was a good shooter. He averagted over 25 points a game in HS, it would be like these kids coming from Lone Peak over
the next few years, would you tell them never to shoot the ball over the paranoia of being told that you play for BYU because of y our father. What Rodger realized to late in the process is that he hurt his own team over this worry over the opinion of many that you see expressed in forums like Cougar Board.

Robbie was just plain good and I don't think Robbie cared what the fig any of you thought. He had a pretty decent career at Michigan after the administration messed up in their firing of his father.

The way BYU's administration handled the Reid firing was a fiasco. BYU would NEVER had gone 1-25 with poor Tony Ingle. Yes, it would have been a rough year, but Rodger was an excellent X'O's coach.

Why was there so much heat on Rodger. You can make a case that much of it came from local radio and TV. Fat Rick was king at the UofU at the time and believe it or not, Rodger was a serious thorn in that guys side. Rodgers head to head record with the Utes was much better then his precessor until Rose and Ferdette were on the scene.

Rodger was a decent coach at BYU and anyone tarnishing his name needs to think for two seconds. One comment about Burgess isn't enough to bury the guys long record at BYU.
