This is the correct answer
I was at BYU early 90's. Players hated playing for him and they couldn't recommend BYU to recruits, so recruiting went downhill. I remember a lot of talk of Russel Larson transferring his senior year and this was after making the tournament during his junior year. It's too bad because he was a really good X's and O's guy.
