I agree that we could have used Bachinsky, but he wasn't as great as peopl make
him out to be. As a senior he only averaged 11 pts and .5 assists a game (not 5, but .5). Hawkcat has made it clear in previous posts that he considers good bigs, ones who "demand double teams and pass back out to the perimeter from them or to a frontcourt mate for an easy dunk or layup"

Bachinsky was an excellent defensive player and no doubt would have added depth and defense, but offensively does not meet Hawkcat's definition. In fact, Mika had very similar stats (2 less rebounds and a lot less blocks, but averaged double the assists and the same points despite playing 5 less minutes and being 6 years younger) as a True Freshman.

Point is, he would have added depth, but he wasn't as good as Hartsock, Davies or Mika who are all guys that were in Dave Rose's program during Bachinsky's career.

I know that I am arguing against Hawkcat's point and not yours, but when I look around I see very few bigs during Rose's 10 years that he missed on.

Even looking at Collette. He had a solid freshman year (25 min ppg, 5 rbs and 12 pts) on a solid USU team. But I think that we will have to see who got his scholarship and how their career pans out. If it was Neilson, then yes that is a miss.

But that means Rose has missed on 2 guys in 10 years who he should have recruited. That is actually pretty good and I think refutes this idea that Rose is missing on all these quality bigs.
