Sorry..will break it down..
DSS=Digital satellite systems (commonly called Dish and DirectTV)
SD=standard definition
HD=High Def (at least 720 dpi, higher)
4K is becoming the new benchmark, but not as common as HD in homes.
HDMI= one cable to carry both video and audio in a very consumer friendly connection. HDMI v1.4 is the latest specs I know of. Marketing people will carry that label on HDMI products, but HDMI cable is that...works with different versions.

Out of the gate, BYUtv and their staff always broadcast in the HIGHEST format possible. From lens to post production BYUtv has some of the best out there. Next step would be a 4k camera, but those are very expensive, BUT BYU is more than ready for that platform.

Very well thought out in that regard and have been since day one. BYU ace is BYUtv....hands down.
