BYU has never recruited any better than now except for a few random years. Other than a few well known names, the players BYU sent to the NFL were late bloomers or people who were overlooked by other programs.

And BYU is hardly in the doldrums as far as players in the NFL. Four from last years team ended up making NFL rosters even though one quit and one is now in the CFL. So making the NFL (or even then CFL) is the primary goal. Other than first rounders the draft is pretty much a crap shoot anyway.
