For better or worse... The current state of BYU football is a direct result
of "Football is 5th".
To many fans they really buy into this philosophy, they're likely very pleased with BYU football...
Other fans would prefer football to be higher on the list and as a result they aren't pleased with the state of the program since 2009.
Either way you slice it, "you get out of something, what you put into it". Or... "If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always got."
Bronco is a great man but there is only so much time in a day and for a football program to have as much emphasis on off field items and extra curricular items you're going to suffer in those areas not getting as much attention.
Really just boils down to what the objective of the program is. If you want a team of fine young men who can beat poor teams most of the time and get an occasional notable win then BYU is doing it right... If you are a fan that believes you can still be a fine young man and still be more competitive in meaningful games then you're likely disappointed.
