If you are going to play that way you need the receiver to break off at just the right time. You can't wait for the break and then pass the ball, the ball already needs to be on the way. So you need an experienced QB - I never said senior. Thus - not football 101. Tanner did not have spring ball and not much time in camp so the routes you are suggesting are not realistic at this date. Especially against good corners. What we need are pick plays and crossing routes designed to get receivers open. Just being more physical still favors the defense.
Also, we probably would have been flagged for being more physical. That's was another problem yesterday, the defense learned that the refs weren't going to be fair and it affected our aggressiveness. Probably part of the reason Michigan was able to break free for a time.
