You're making my point for me.
The win had nothing to do with a conference race. It didn't make any difference whatsoever in terms of what bowl game we played in. Yet the players in that locker room were celebrating like it was the end of the second world war. How does their celebration jive with your contention that they wouldn't play hard because they'd have nothing to play for?
