My biggest problem is why does what is in your retirement 401K matter to FAFSA?

To me that is the dumbest factor they ask for in FAFSA. Seems to me like they want a parent to cash in their retirement to pay for their kids college so that they can form another dependent of the government later when the parent is retired and doesn't have enough money to live
