...can even have this conversation.

I get what you're saying. I really do. But the honor code is primarily based on behavior that is seen as sin. Just to clarify for me - which of the honor code infractions get you a nice lecture and warning or sent back to your apartment to shave, and which of the honor code infractions get you kicked out of school?

I get what you're saying. But at it's core, the HC is about sinful behavior.

Generally speaking I agree with those who would say - if you aren't interested in living the HC, then go to a different school where they don't have one. That's easy enough - no one is REQUIRED to go to BYU.

I'm more interested in those who really intended to follow the HC, but who have made mistakes along the way. Those who want to correct behavior, not try to find ways around it or to hide what their intent was all along.
