Perhaps the player you know was around during the Urban Meyer days. Ron McBride and Lavell are still close friends. Whit and Sitake will probably be good friends until the day they die. Whit is not motivated by hatred towards BYU. He nearly left his players to take a lower paying job at BYU in 2004.

I do feel very lucky to be in the PAC. The Ute home schedule this year is a dream come true for a longtime Ute fan. I go to games with fellow ALUFs and it is absolutely positively a family friendly environment. I rarely get offended by fan behavior at games. We don't hang out in the tailgate area where a lot of drinking is going on. Bytheway, there might be 2 or 3,000 drinking tailgaters outside of a Ute game. Outside of the Big House a few years ago there must have been more than 40,000 drinking tailgaters. USC last year had maybe 25,000 drinking tailgaters for the Ute game. I have seen the aftermath of an SEC tailgate in Georgia and it is over the top. Maybe 150,000 drinkers when the stadium only holds 90,000. As if drinking is the source of all evil anyway lol.

I realize that there are lots of Ute fans that are also BYU haters, but that only comes out when BYU is around. It is similar to a Jazz game when BYU is booed - there are a lot of people in Utah that have hard feelings about the church. Ute football is increasing rapidly in price and playing BYU is less frequent. The people only motivated by hatred to BYU are getting priced out.
