You can't even play community basketball or football in our area after about 7th
grade unless you play on Sunday. We have athletic kids that dominate the city league and are chosen every year to be the all-star representative...but once they reach a certain age, they just can't play any more due to the Sunday play issue.
It is hard to watch a kid excel at something and love to play, but then run out of options at age 13. Now to be honest, they are related to me and my wife, so at 5'7"-5'9" max they aren't going to a D1 school in pretty much anything...but it is hard to explain that to a 13 year old.
Even my runner who was on a city team ended up working out with them all week, and then missed the races since 5 of the 6 races were on Sunday. He did make the high school team and excelled as a freshman, but you can't get away with that in the big 3 sports.

Really? So how is BYU any different from every other D1 program. You get offered if your good, BYU doesn't control that.
