I don't disagree that playing on Sunday helps you be a better player. But how is this a BYU problem? So BYU should
set aside 5 offers a year for kids who probably would have been better if they played on Sunday? Lets see how that works out. This argument is no different for almost any sport now days... not just football. The amount of commitment involved from the parents today to have their kid excel in whatever sport is ridiculous. One of my best friends growing up was a really good down hill skier. He wanted to make the Olympic team. In high school his parents bought a condo in Park City so he could live there half the year and train. It's crazy but, that is what it takes. You are competing against people that will out work you (i.e. Play on Sunday) and outspend you. I'll bet for some kids, it would have been a better investment for their parents to just save all the money they would have spent traveling around the country paying for hotels, food, gear and leagues. These kids wouldn't need an athletic scholarship, they would have school paid for from the money they saved.
