I challenge anyone to find a better 10 year span than what Dave Rose has done. Somebody brought up the 1986-1995 run, so here are the numbers. If anyone wants to find a different 10 year span they feel was better, be my guest.

(You said 1987 but said 7 NCAA appearances so you must have been including 1986-87 season)

Total Record – 197-90 (0.686 winning percentage)

Worst season record – 14-15

Best Season Record – 26-6

Conference Championships – 4 (2 ties)

2007-2016

Total Record – 238-80 (0.748 winning percentage)

Worst season record – 23-12

Best Season Record – 32-5

In his last 10 years (I asked for a 10 year span) he has 1 more conference championship which puts him even with the other span. He has yet to win a conference championship in the WCC, but I would argue that Gonzaga is better than any team that BYU played in the WAC days (definitely) and the MWC days (SDSU had some good runs). I agree that this is his one big knock, and I would also like to see more conference championships.

So, in summary, you found the best 9 year span you could find, and it couldn’t match up to Dave Rose’s last 9 seasons, which include the last 4 which are some of his “worst”. Also, 2 years after that little run of yours, BYU went 1-25. Dave Rose hasn’t had a losing season in 11 years. He hasn’t won less than 20 games in 11 years. You will not find a better 11 year span in all of BYU’s history. The consistency has been amazing, and, like I said, it is UNHEARD of at BYU.
