So half the time during a basketball game, when you aren't on offense, you play defense. Sometimes it's a little more than half, sometimes a little less, but you get the idea.

So, while BYU was great on offense (#10), they weren't very good at the other half (defense). So, because of that second part, BYU still finished in third place. It was probably because the teams who took first and second played well in both halves.
