The effect is the same: money isn't being spent on--since this is CB--BYU...
...athletics the way fans of other big name programs spend it. I don't think Mormons are any more "cheap" than the any other group (our charitable giving would suggest this) it's just our demographic and our religion don't leave a lot of room for the average fan to lavish money on the athletic dept.

I was a Cougar Club member in the early 2000s. I was a bronze level member. ($200.00/year). The point is, I didn't give much in my early CC go round. After the yewtah loss in 2005 I got frustrated and never re-upped. I finally did a few months back and re-joined at the lowest Legacy level. Normally, Legacy 1 status is $10,000 up front, $1500 a year, but I did it when they offered a deal: Legacy 1 privileges for $2500/year until you paid your 10Gs and then $1500 a year after that. When season ticket renewal time came, you'd be shocked at the priority number that $2500 got me. It wouldn't make a splash at many big time schools, but at BYU it shot me through the roof. I'll be interested to see how much higher the next $2500 gets me.
