Agree, it is both a Utah and LDS trait.
That being said LDS on the east coast do at times remain frugal on gifts, others meet the norm by non-LDS friends.....it varies.

With a $50k donation you can get 50 yard line seats in LES. I can't imagine a donation of this size would get you
