A key issue here is what is our definition of "sustainable"?

Is sustainability about piecing enough donor and TV money to barely be in the black (our current situation)? If our donor money falls off, we are quickly in the red, as it is very tight.

Is it about beating P5 teams consistently? Is it about going to NY6 bowls? Is it about being consistently ranked?

It seems that "sustainable" to many fans means, just barely squeaking by in the black, regardless of the outcome on the field. I was personally call that "surviving."

I think what other fans mean by "sustainable" is actually "thriving." That would be about winning big games, NY6, being ranked, etc.

I'm certain we can "survive" in the long run. There are a 100 crappy teams that have been around 100 years that say this is true. The bigger issue to me, is can we "thrive" in the long run and if so, how?
