I believe Ty’s playcalling is okay. Not great, but good enough for a 2nd year oc. But somehow he’s not working hard enough himself or demanding enough work from his staff, or something.
I think it takes an incredible amount of work and I have heard that working hard enough is not a hallmark of this staff. Not saying they don’t work hard, but they’re not getting over that threshold and I think inexperienced coaches need to work harder even.
Also, I do think there is something to having a hardasser on the staff is important. Someone to instill fear and drive in the players. Man, I remember seeing Fred Whittingham and those players would never dare to give anything but 100% or else they’d get chewed up and spit out by Fred. French did that on the o. And Chow wasn’t exactly a friendly coach. In fact he was kind of a jerk. But the players knew they better not let him catch them loafing.
