was not on a good path. Being an older father of young kids, I decided I needed to get in much better shape if I wanted to maintain an active lifestyle for my kids for the next 20 years and more.
I started following Peter Attia, Andrew Huberman, Layne Norton and others like them and that helped me with motivation and knowledge. I changed the way I eat and started exercising like crazy.
Fast forward to now and I've lost around 35 lbs and I'm in better shape than I was in my 30's, and all of my health metric are much better.
I hate missing workouts now (my wife hates it too because I get grumpy) - and I seldom miss them because it is just part of who I am now.
I'm currently in the middle of Lisfranc recovery which sucks. I absolutely hate not being able to run, mtn bike, and do other outdoor activities. But I still manage to do some sort of workout daily. I just got a walking cast yesterday so I hopped on my trainer for a spin for the first time in 7 weeks. It was rough - it sucks how fast you lose cardio fitness - but it felt so good to be back in the saddle even if it was indoors.
I owe it to my family and to myself to stay on the path.
