The academic standards thing is simply not true
Find me a bunch of high academic standard schools with low APRs. It's easy, go to this website (http://web1.ncaa.org/maps/aprRelease.jsp) and put in whatever team you think has high academic standards. Then do the same thing for a bunch of schools that you think have lower academic standards. When you are done, type in the list over here.

Actually, wait, let me save you the time. Your statement simply is not true and just saying it over and over doesn't make it true. Here are some APRs with schools with high academic standards

Air Force - 980
Stanford - 977
Vanderbilt - 978
Duke - 989
Northwestern - 995
Notre Dame - 970

By the way, I didn't cherry pick that list. Those were the first 6 schools I looked up. I don't really know which schools have low academic standards, but here are some comparisons:

San Diego State - 949
Utah State - 959
Arizona State - 937

And then there is BYU with 932. As you can see, APR has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with academic standards from a University. Stick with the mission argument. It makes more sense.
