Biggest current reason for me is that I don't need live sports all 12 months...
After football season I can drop Sling/PSVUE or whatever service I'm currently using. I have an antenna with a DVR for anything on the networks, and I can get the replays of one-off events on ESPN3 via my ISP. I have to get NBA League Pass to watch the Jazz anyway, and I don't need TV for that.

I currently have PSVUE for the Gold Cup on a free trial, and I'll sign up for something and pay for Football season from end of August to December/early January at which point I'll drop it again.

Ultimately cord-cutting isn't for everyone (I would not recommend it for my Dad, as an example), but it's saved me a lot of money over the years. I was admittedly a very early adopter as I used ESPN360 while it was free for years dating back to when it launched and I was in college (lots of time spent in the Crabtree building streaming games while I was doing homework).

It's also nice to be completely agnostic from an ISP perspective... I can easily call up my ISP and get the best price from them because there is literally NO cost or inconvenience for me to switch. That's not entirely the case when they provide your TV and Phone.
