yeah I've wondered this. After paying more for internet by not having it bundled
and then sling or PSVUE and then netflix, are you really saving all that much?
The DVR has always been the deal breaker for me. I value my time at 50$ an hour. A DVR pays for itself is one football game.

Dish does have the best options for streaming on other devices (and away from home) of the traditional offerings.
