TV Tuner attached to my PC running Windows 7, and using Windows Media Player as
the DVR (with a dedicated hard drive). I've then got an XBOX 360 that I use as an extender into my Family Room. You can set up the extender on WiFi, but I have it hardwired to my network to reduce load times.
I'm stuck on Windows 7 and the XBOX 360 for the time being since Windows 10 and the XBOX One don't have the native DVR and extender functionality. There are other setups that I can use once I am forced to upgrade, but they likely won't be as simple as this is.

Dish does have the best options for streaming on other devices (and away from home) of the traditional offerings.
