I don’t think that’s preferential treatment at all
I think it’s completely merit based. A football player does significantly more for the university that a 4.0 student. They should be treated as so

1-3 exceptions per year should be guaranteed. It's not a big deal. BYU needs athletes to truly gain exposure.

BYU is only considered somewhat "normal" due to what the football and basketball teams have done/do. It's a no brainer.
