I live in Georgia. Any idea how many squirrels have darted under my tires? When it happens next time am I supposed to call the cops or is it more of a "see something say something" type of thing? Kind of like the Honor Code?
Are the fines supposed to fluctuate according to where you live? I would imagine you have to live somewhere out west because the likelihood of you hitting something out there is much lower than much of the rest of the country.
In areas like the southeast where it actually rains and we have Forest everywhere, the population density of wildlife is way higher than the Western 1/3 of the United States.
I have a great driving record and consider myself a very conservative driver, yet here are some of the things I've hit.
I've hit deer, wild turkeys, squirrels, possum, armadillos, Turtles, rabbits, buzzards, owls, snakes, bullfrogs.
I've swerved and missed many more times than I've actually hit them but Sometimes the only way to stay safe is to hit the dang animal.
To even put the moment of hesitation into someone's mind would lead to numerous fatalities and would be government overreach at its finest.
