Even as a wildlife geek, I don't think it's tenable to enforce this.

I particularly enjoy reptiles, and more snakes are hit and killed by vehicles than probably any other kind of animal. Often it is intentional but they can be difficult to see in the road and frankly most people don't care if they hit one anyway. I think hitting any animal is worth avoiding when it can be done safely.
