I agree with this take; just find it terrible when we criticize others for it
For the record, I grew up a Utah fan. It was a connection with my dad. That's not ever going to lose meaning for me, and I don't think it should. I want Utah to do well.

At the same time, I went to BYU, I went to the games with friends there and grew invested in the team's success. I want BYU to do well.

It makes me different than 95% of the board here where I don't measure BYU's success by Utah's failures (or vice versa), but I honestly want both teams to succeed.

It just drives me nuts when we apply a different standard to the same actions, depending on what team's it's for. A BYU fan going to Utah and rooting for them is culling the herd, someone who never deserved to be considered a BYU fan to begin with. But ALUFs or Ute fans going to BYU is incomprehensible and an abomination to root against your alma mater.

I just wish we were consistent. Admittedly, it may bother me more than others due to my unusual dual fandom, but I do wish we applied the same standards of judgment either way.
