OK, but prejudices aside, why?

Is it because that's incompatible with being a BYU fan? By that logic, the kid who grows up a Utah fan, but then goes to BYU shouldn't switch his allegiance to BYU either, right? Because being a BYU fan is incompatible?

Simply put, do you root for your alma mater or your team you grew up rooting for? Which takes precedence?
