I grew up a Ute fan. The BYU-Utah dynamic is unique...

It doesn't exactly go both ways. So yeah, it is lame for lifelong BYU fans to suddenly all become die-hard Ute fans just because one kid didn't get into BYU.

Also, "relative ease of getting in" is a bit of a slap in the face to all the parents on this board whose children weren't admitted.
