Because drivers do not give them the 3 feet required by law when passing. So they band together and take the lane for protection. 9th east is the most dangerous street for cyclists and pedestrians in Provo unfortunately.
Another big problem on that road is people put their garbage cans out and force you into the lane of traffic
We need a protected bike path on 9th. It'd reduce frustration for drivers and cyclists. Because 25% of byu students don't own a car, biking on that road is their only way to get to school.
