You mean drivers? Because you're right, that's my point. Drivers don't give 3 ft
as required by law. I know of one cyclist who attached a big pool noodle to their bike to stick out 3 feet. I'm sure it made drivers angry but what can you do? Cars whiz past on 9th east giving about 1 ft of clearance, going 40 mph. And cyclists aren't supposed to be on the sidewalks there "by law"

I actually choose to break the law often on that road and ride on the sidewalk because I have my kids in tow. But that's dangerous for pedestrians on the sidewalk. A separate, safe place for cyclists on that road is really needed.

Or drivers need to learn to be calm and let cyclists take the lane when needed, but that seems less likely than if we designed our cities to have protected biking areas.
