When I was taught how to drive, I learned that if I was impeding traffic, I should pull over or move over and let others pass. That same courtesy should apply to cyclists, bus drivers, delivery trucks, car drivers, runners, construction workers, train engineers, and all others. I am okay if you want to cycle on the road. You do you, just let me do me as well. Be considerate enough to move over when others are trying to get by safely. I am considerate enough to share the road.
I always want to give you 3 feet. Heck I would like to give you 15 feet, but when the road is 20 ft wide with an 8 foot wide tractor trailer coming in oncoming traffic and you are on top of the white line or riding two across, things are going to get tight.
Somehow we need to find a way to generate enough revenue from cyclists to pay for updated roads with more space. Unfortunately only motorcyclists end up contributing directly to the roads from the tax they pay at the pump. (I know that cyclists pay gas tax for the car they drive but not for the bike)
