The angst against cyclists breaking the law is hilarious. When I go running,
I notice how many drivers actually stop all the way at stop signs. It's probably around 20%, and usually because I've already entered the intersection. The vast majority just roll right through the stop. And yet if cyclists do that (even though it's legal for them to do so), drivers lose their minds.

And how about speeding? What % of drivers never speed?

But beyond that, I think there is common ground between cyclists and drivers. They don't want us in the road, and frankly, I don't want to be in the road either. Let's work together for safe, off-road bike paths that connect to locations of interest so that there's fewer friction points within the cities. That would make everyone happier.

Of course it's different for sport cyclists out on rural roads putting in some miles. There's usually less friction there. I'm talking mostly about in-town.
