I would liken it more with taking a successful president of a small business
and hiring him as a VP at a mid-sized corporation in similar trades. This mid-sized corporation wants to become a world leader and needs to discover new talent to do so.
That has happened and continues to happen. Some become super-stars and many fail.
It all comes down to risk tolerance of the CEO of the corporation as this president of a small business has no corporate VP experience.
