should be a revelation to me. How hard is it for someone to say, "I can deal with this. It isn't a big deal. But it does hurt a little. And, if I'm not getting paid, why shouldn't I move on and deal with the aggravation while I'm getting paid?"
I don't think fan criticism was a major part of Mika's decision. I wouldn't, however, be surprised if part of his decision making process included a realization that he didn't have fun last year. And, in addition to losing more than expected (which was probably the biggest single factor in it not being fun), it wasn't fun hearing all the criticism. In short, coming back to college for another year of care free fun can't be a factor pulling an athlete back if it isn't care free fun.
