I would say that the typical Bronco recruiting class is slightly more 3* than 2* and maybe one 4* thrown in there. The people in the know at Virginia had to know that. I would expect those classes to improve slightly if they start winning (just like it did at BYU) and improve significantly if they start winning consistently. Look back at the pre-Bronco Virginia recruiting class of 2015 and the group looks virtually the same as what I have described with maybe a few more 3*s than Bronco is currently getting.

Unless you are a big time college coach or a hot NFL coach, you will not land great talent in college without winning. My guess is Virginia couldn't get a coach like that so they selected Bronco as a good rebuild option, which he is. They have 5 losing seasons people. It is going to take at least 3 years to right that sinking ship. BYU was only a few years out from winning a lot so taking it back to where it should have been probably seemed like a given to many recruits. It's at least something you could legitimately sell recruits on. Virginia has not had 9 wins for 10 years. They have not had double digit wins since 89'. There is literally no consistent history of success that any young recruit would remember. All you can sell them on is a great education and a blind faith change in the future. I hope they show some patience with winning and recruiting there because it is going to take ripping out the foundation and rebuilding from down deep. I personally think that with time he can take that program from garbage to good. Maybe even really good. Time will tell and I hope he succeeds or at least gets the chance to succeed.
