Chances are good that the kind of LDS player who wants to go to BYU would still go to BYU and the kind who wanted to go to a state school with LDS coaches would go to UVA. Also, they're across the country from each other in very different geographic and cultural areas, so there isn't a ton of overlap for recruiting.
