if that necessarily means the basketball program, either. He could have just wanted out of school. But looking at it as a basketball only decision, I have a hard time understanding his logic. How many guys have we seen shoot up draft boards with a run in the tournament? I think if he had come back to BYU and shown the development of his jump shot I think he would have had a much more legitimate chance at the NBA.
The one risk with that is injury, but let's be honest, he could injure himself in the first game in Italy, and be in just as bad of a situation. So why not give yourself the best possible chance to succeed? The only answer I can come up with was that he was ready to go, for whatever reason, and leaving was more important to him than his pending basketball success. I realize he doesn't need the money, but man. What a waste from the outside looking in. I wish him the best of luck. I'm very grateful he was a cougar. But his decision is pretty puzzling.
