Wasn't it almost the same identical D line from the year before but with the addition of Takitaki as our best D lineman on the edge? The only change was Kaufusi was the D line coach and got moved to LB's last year. Both the D line and LB's struggled last year. Maybe it was a poor move on KS to move Tuaiki to D line as well as DC and move Kaufusi to LB's where neither group performed as well as the year before. This wasn't about recruiting because we stopped teams in 2016 and held the score down to beat teams. Neither of which we did in 2017. There should be an infusion of more talent and depth at both positions in 2018 so if we struggle again to get pressure on the QB and get pushed three yards back after each snap then it is on Tuiaki and scheme he runs. Very vanilla defense in 2017!
