Yes, that’s right. A group of middle schoolers respond to intelligent
conversation by making fart noises and calling it “dumb”.
When adults, after being confronted with a rational argument they don’t agree with, do the equivalent of making fart noises and saying “that’s dumb”, the polite thing to do is to tell them they aren’t adding anything to the conversation.
