The guys you mentioned were on good teams
They had a real chance of playing in March. Playing in March and April is fun. Guys stick around for that.
If you're EB, and you're good enough to play in Europe, and you know that your BYU team isn't really that good and you're probably not going to play in March, you leave.
So yeah, it's not fun.
