would have played significant minutes for BYU the following season. Most transferred either because they were asked to or in hopes of getting more minutes elsewhere. Not for greener pastures as this thread suggests. Mika was a big blow and Carlino would have started (even if the consensus on CB at the time is we would be better off without him). Other than that transfers have been a huge net positive for BYU. They have by-and-large allowed us to give scholarships to other players that showed potential (e.g. Baxter, Lee, Bryant) and/or met an immediate need on the team (e.g. Hardnett this year with defense). Actually, I don't think we could have gotten Childs or Bryant if we didn't have people transfer out of the program. We've been in a "scholarship crunch" for the last several years.
