As a high school student, I didn’t get into BYU.
I then went to UVU, where I feel like a lot of people do feel rejected by BYU so it turns into hate. Some of my closest family friends had a son walk on to the BYU football team. They were about as die hard as you can get.
Some things happened (I think he may have been cut) and he transferred to SUU. They hate BYU now. Anything BYU “disgusts them”.
I transferred from UVU to USU, where I am currently attending school now. I’m still a proud and strong BYU fan, which I’ve learned is a hard thing up here in Logan. People (the majority being LDS people) have this hatred for BYU and Provo in general. Friends who had never even lived there would tell you that Satan resides in Provo with all of his minions.
I lived in Provo, and do feel like it’s definitely different because you have so many smart, successful people in one area, that the competition of school and work also leaks into the dating and social scenes. But in general, it’s a great place to live, surrounded by so many with the same ideals and morals as yourself.
There are lots of great people up here in Logan, but it blows my mind how many active members of the church have such a big hate towards anything BYU.
