won't be fired. The definition of a BYU sacred cow is an athlete who was non-LDS when the came to BYU and had notable success as an athlete at BYU, and joined the church while at BYU or later. Ty Detmer is also a BYU sacred cow, but the administration allowed him to be fired because of the special circumstances of the person who did the firing.
