Universal Healthcare is fine with me IF
We mandate healthy living. Make smoking illegal. Make certain BMI percentages illegal. Require certain amounts of exercise so many times a week. Make empty calorie foods and sodas illegal. Restrict alcohol use to a small amount each week. Make certain risky activities illegal, such as contact sports, skiing, driving over 40 mph, etc. Sexual activities between two people would now need government permission to prevent the spread of STDs and costly abortions.

I don't want lazy and/or irresponsible slobs in my risk pool because it drives the cost way up. If we are going to view health care as a human right then taking care of our bodies must be a constitutional responsibility punishable as federal crimes.

OR

We keep our freedoms and make wise/poor decisions that either help or hurt us as individuals.

I know this is a broad brush, but if you sit on your couch all day unemployed and are pounding 4,000 calories of chips, cheetos, ice cream, etc, and clocking in at 300 pounds, I really don't want to help pay for your type 2 diabetes (not to mention paying for all your food through food stamps). And if you are a chain smoker, I don't want to pay for your lung cancer. If you live on the wild side and become a petri dish of STDs, please get a second job and pay to clean yourself up.

While universal health care would still be ridiculously expensive, I could get on board if I knew my fellow man was trying to live a healthy lifestyle.
