A direct reflection? I don’t think so. Why would setting inflated prices that
one actually pays be caused by rising liability costs? Especially when the primary expense caused by litigation, malpractice insurance, is covered by doctors personally who hospitals haven’t employed in decades. Sure hospitals get sued as well sometimes, but not nearly enough for it to have an effect on what must be billed. More often than not, the malpractice boogeyman is just that, a boogeyman. Administrators and insurance companies like to point at it to deflect from their own issues and to encourage tort reform. You aren’t getting outrageous make believe bills because doctors get sued too much.
