One glaring difference, however – Ivy League schools don't even have athletic scholarships
I don't know how that plays into scenarios like this but it's a big difference. Obviously there are lots of other scholarship types they can work with (academic, needs-based, etc) but accepting a kid into a grad program (even an Ivy League one) without attaching an athletic scholarship to it isn't the same thing as accepting a kid into BYU with such a scholarship.
