I stopped taking religion classes at BYU. They bugged me.
I would take institute classes at UVU and then transfer the credit to BYU as much as possible. It was great. The teachers had two objectives:

1. Help the class feel the spirit while teaching doctrine
2. Create an environment in which we would want to come back

My spirituality improved when I did this.

I would prefer to have BYU adopt this model for all students with pass/fail grades. I would like them to do a divinity major of sorts for those that want more than the institute experience and plan on becoming scholars.
